Your Local Museum, Reimagined

We’re still the Museum of Art + History you know and love, located in the iconic, historic City Hall building.

But now, we’re reimagining the visitor experience to bring you more...

  • Art

  • History

  • Accessibility

  • Stories our community cares about.

Get ready for a whole new way to experience Jefferson County’s rich past and vibrant future.

The Newly Imagined Museum Experience is Transforming the Historic City Hall Building

A new chapter for the Museum of Art + History is on the horizon! We’re reimagining our museum to create a more dynamic, accessible, and ever-evolving space that invites curiosity, exploration, and community connection.

We listened to your feedback –– and we’re transforming how you experience art and history.

Get ready for more art, more history, and more opportunities to follow your curiosity, all while enjoying an enhanced ADA-accessible environment.

One Museum

Imagine the museum as one large, flexible space where every corner invites you to dive deeper into a single annual theme. Every year, we will focus our exhibitions around one main topic, exploring that theme through new art exhibitions and installations, newly researched or curated archives and historic collections, and annual programming.

One Theme

We’re starting with a theme that connects with us all: Home.

Soon, you’ll experience exhibitions that explore the meaning of home— what it means, how it varies, and how it’s evolved over time.

Endless Engagement

Plus, we’re making more room for you to add your voice! Visitors will be invited to share their personal definitions of the topic at hand with interactive activities, making their perspective part of the museum experience itself.

A Space for Everyone

In addition to this exciting new approach to our exhibitions, we are making our spaces accessible to everyone. We’re doing this by:

  • Installing new ADA-accessible ramps

  • Raising doorway heights

  • Updating lighting and signage for ease of navigation
